The 116th issue of the peer-reviewed quarterly Ḥadīth Sciences (ʿUlūm Ḥadīth, in Persian), Summer 2025, has been published by Ḥadīth Sciences and Teachings Research Department, Research Institute of Qurʾān and Ḥadīth.
Since its launch in 1996, this journal has pursued the advancement of ḥadīth studies—regarded as the “mother of the Islamic sciences”—by seeking to attain scholarly standing in specialized discussions of ḥadīth sciences and teachings, as well as by introducing authors interested in ḥadīth studies to the academic community. Its objectives include problem identification and providing answers to issues arising in the ḥadīth-related disciplines, as well as reexamining new doubts raised by critics of ḥadīth and offering scholarly responses to them.
The new issue, edited by Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Mohammad-Kazem Tabatabaʾi, comprises ten specialized articles focusing on the critique and reassessment of ḥadīth sources and the analysis of the traditions of the Ahl al-Bayt (a).
One of the highlights of this issue is a study of the connection between the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and the Qurʾān, which, from a philosophical perspective, examines traditions on the categories of verses and explores the role of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) in explicating and interpreting the Qurʾān. Another article addresses the authenticity of transmitting the exact wording of the sayings of the Ahl al-Bayt (a), underscoring the importance of precision in ḥadīth transmission and its impact on understanding Islamic teachings.
This issue of the quarterly has been published with the aim of enhancing the level of ḥadīth research, critically engaging with traditions, and presenting analytical approaches to classical sources.
