The Sadra Islamic Humanities Research Center will hold a specialized symposium entitled “Contemporary Theories of Justice: Critique and Review” in Tehran, November 2025.

The event is organized with the aim of critically and comparatively examining contemporary theories of justice across epistemic, political, economic, social, and jurisprudential domains, and will provide an opportunity for dialogue among faculty members, researchers, and students.

The main themes include:

  • Critiques of the theories of justice developed by John Rawls, Thomas Nagel, and T. M. Scanlon
  • Justice in the critical thought of Jürgen Habermas, Axel Honneth, and Nancy Fraser
  • Justice in Islamic philosophy and Ḥikmat‑i Mutaʿāliya (Transcendent Philosophy)
  • The relationship between justice and freedom, satisfaction, and authority
  • Environmental and intergenerational justice

Selected papers will be published as a book. The deadline for abstract submission was June 21, 2025, and for full papers September 22, 2025.
