The Islamic Research Foundation of Astan Quds Razavi, in cooperation with the International Affairs Office of Astan Quds Razavi, organized the 14th session of its webinar series “Pilgrimage in the World.” This session, entitled “The Globalization of Pilgrimage Tourism,” was held on 7 August 2025.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Kevin Griffin, Professor at Technological University Dublin, Ireland. Drawing on his book Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage Management, he explored the dimensions of globalization in pilgrimage tourism, highlighting the challenges and opportunities of managing religious travel in the contemporary world.
This program is part of Astan Quds Razavi’s broader effort to expand scholarly dialogue on the cultural, social, and economic dimensions of pilgrimage within the framework of global tourism studies.
