The International Symposium on “Philosophical Dialogues between Iran and the Arab World” will be convened in November 2026 in Qom, organized by the Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy and the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

With a scholarly and research-oriented approach, the symposium aims to foster intellectual connections between Iranian and Arab thinkers, to offer a renewed perspective on the Islamic philosophical tradition, and to explore its political and social potential for addressing contemporary challenges in the Muslim world.

Thematic Areas of the Symposium

The program’s thematic areas include:

  • The necessity of dialogue and its components
  • Historical experiences of philosophical, cultural, and civilizational dialogues between Iranian and Arab scholars
  • Philosophy curricula in Arab countries and Iran (seminaries and universities)
  • Islamic philosophy and its functions in addressing challenges faced by the Muslim community
  • Religious beliefs and philosophical knowledge: interaction or confrontation
  • Tolerance and coexistence alongside religious diversity
  • Examination of contemporary philosophical thought in the Islamic world
  • Freedom, social responsibility, the crisis of meaning, and lifestyle
