The Maʿnā School of Islamic Humanities has launched an advanced instructional course entitled “Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Society,” taught by Dr. Abdolhossein Khosropanah. To date, ten sessions of the course have been recorded and made available to students and researchers. Designed primarily for doctoral students and academic specialists, the course aims to equip participants with the analytical tools necessary to examine the theoretical foundations, social implications, and practical challenges of knowledge and technology in contemporary societies.

Given the central role of science and technology in the realization of governments’ macro-level social and economic objectives, familiarity with the philosophical, social, and critical dimensions of these fields is essential for researchers. This course provides an intellectual framework through which graduates, by drawing on case studies and examining practical challenges, can develop skills in the critical evaluation of scientific and technological issues and strengthen the connections between philosophy, the humanities, and technology.

Dr. Khosropanah, Professor of the Philosophy of Science and Technology and a faculty member of the Department of Philosophy at the Research Institute for Islamic Culture and Thought, has highlighted the importance of the course, noting that understanding the relationship between scientific and technological developments, social structures, and policymaking processes enables specialists to anticipate and mitigate the potential risks associated with technological change.
