The Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy has recently published a book entitled Falsafih-yi Fiqh-i Siyāsī (The Philosophy of Political Jurisprudence), authored in Persian by Hujjat al‑Islam Seyyed Sajjad Izdehi. This 416‑page volume represents a novel attempt to elucidate the foundations, scope, and capacities of political and governmental jurisprudence.
Adopting a philosophical perspective, Izdehi approaches the interdisciplinary field of political jurisprudence with the aim of uncovering its possibilities and challenges in light of contemporary intellectual and social transformations. The central discussions of the book’s first section address the nature and scope of political jurisprudence, its objectives and functions, the various schools and currents of thought, the obstacles and factors of transformation, its historical development during the period of occultation, the changes following the Islamic Revolution, and the potential for institutional structuring within the political system.
In the second section, the author examines the essence and characteristics of governmental jurisprudence, offering an analysis of Imam Khomeini’s views in this domain. The principal objective of the book is to identify and introduce the capacities of political and governmental jurisprudence as an intellectual infrastructure for governing a religious society, while providing a theoretical framework for a comprehensive, Sharia‑based, and efficient model of political administration.
