The book An Introduction to the Impacts of Ethics on Jurisprudential Deduction, authored in Persian by Seyyed Mohammad Baqer Mirsane and Hadi Sadeqi, has been published in collaboration with Dar al-Hadith Publications. Adopting an analytical approach, this research work elucidates the systematic connections between the domain of moral epistemology and the process of Ijtihad (independent reasoning) and the deduction of Sharia rulings. Furthermore, it examines the role of ethical principles and values in shaping jurisprudential outcomes.

Compiled in 398 pages, the book focuses on the fundamental question regarding the “relationship between moral judgments and jurisprudential decisions.” The authors endeavor to demonstrate how ethical foundations, functioning as an influential variable, can transform the methods and outcomes of jurisprudential deduction, particularly when confronting novel and complex issues (al-masa’il al-mustahdathah). The central hypothesis of the work rests on the premise that neglecting the epistemic capacities of the science of ethics can expose the deductive process to theoretical and functional challenges.

The structure of this work is organized into seven chapters to provide the audience with a clear logical progression of the argument. The chapter titles are as follows:

  • Chapter One: Conceptual Framework
  • Chapter Two: The Formulation of Inward-Oriented Deduction According to Abu Hamid al-Ghazali
  • Chapter Three: The Proposal of “Paradigm-Oriented Ijtihad”
  • Chapter Four: Introductory Discussions on “Ethics-Oriented Ijtihad”
  • Chapter Five: The Impact of Ethics on the Domain of Deduction
  • Chapter Six: The Impact of Ethics on the Domain of Conceptualizations (Subjects and Predicates)
  • Chapter Seven: The Impact of the Science of Ethics on the Domain of Assents (Affirmations)

This book serves as a substantial resource for researchers in the fields of jurisprudence (Fiqh), the principles of jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), moral philosophy, and interdisciplinary studies within the Islamic sciences.
