From Political Opposition to Philosophical Engagement
At the inception of the Revolution, opposition to the West was primarily political; however, it has gradually evolved into a deeper intellectual and philosophical confrontation. Today, it is evident that Western humanities fail to address specific societal needs, Western epistemology faces fundamental challenges, and Western philosophy remains incompatible with Islamic intellectual foundations. Notably, even some Western thinkers, when analyzing the identity of Muslims, unintentionally articulate principles that stand in direct opposition to the foundational tenets of Western civilization.
The Three Layers of Civilization
Progress toward a New Islamic Civilization is impossible without a comprehensive understanding of its philosophical foundations. Every civilization is composed of three distinct layers, the most fundamental of which is the philosophical layer. This layer is identity-forming and determines the overarching orientation of the civilization. When this philosophical foundation is correctly understood, it becomes significantly easier to discern how to establish intellectual independence from Western culture and civilization.
The most critical task is to identify the philosophical identity and foundational principles of this movement. By answering fundamental questions and achieving general academic acceptance, this philosophical layer structures the subsequent cultural layers and shapes the ultimate civilizational identity.
Preserving and Transmitting Intellectual Heritage
Within the rational sciences, specific areas require concentrated effort. Primarily, the rich heritage inherited by Islamic seminaries must become the core intellectual sustenance for contemporary scholars. The accurate transmission of this heritage is a fundamental prerequisite; without it, significant intellectual progress remains unattainable. This foundational step is an imperative that must be prioritized within academic and religious institutions.
The Revival of Practical Wisdom
Another critical endeavor is the development of practical wisdom. While efforts have recently been initiated within academic circles, its historical absence has left a significant void. For various reasons, during the study of jurisprudence and related subjects, certain foundational principles were promoted that inadvertently restricted broader intellectual exploration. This led to a misconception that practical wisdom lacked a substantive basis, resulting in its marginalization.
However, if the framework proposed by classical philosophers is revived and adapted for contemporary challenges, practical wisdom can structure many current academic and societal endeavors.

The proper resolution of the discourse on practical wisdom will naturally influence the principles of jurisprudence and, consequently, jurisprudence itself. A successful integration of practical wisdom would have a profound effect on the understanding and interpretation of religious texts.
Structuring a Rational Political Philosophy
As the framework of religious thought expands to meet contemporary needs, existing foundational resources often prove insufficient. Practical wisdom provides vital support in this context. It can be systematically applied to jurisprudence, governmental frameworks, philosophical practice, text interpretation, and overarching civilization-building. Ultimately, there is a profound need for this discourse on practical wisdom, a crucial branch of which must be a rational political philosophy derived directly from Islamic philosophy.
