The book “Gentleness and Tolerance in Education from the Perspective of Imami Jurisprudence,” authored in Persian by Mohammad Latif, has been published in 346 pages by Al-Mustafa International University. This work, presented as a jurisprudential-ijtihadi study, examines the foundations and rulings related to gentleness and tolerance within the educational process.

According to the book’s content, the author has endeavored across six sections to elucidate the perspective of Imami jurisprudence regarding the concept of “gentleness and tolerance” in the field of education, examining its position within various educational domains. In this context, the primary objective of the research is to extract the jurisprudential rulings concerning gentleness and tolerance across doctrinal, ritual, and emotional dimensions from religious and jurisprudential sources.

Utilizing a descriptive-analytical method alongside an ijtihadi approach, this research investigates the multidimensional aspects of observing gentleness and tolerance in upbringing. It draws upon evidence such as reason, verses of the Holy Quran, narrations (hadiths), the conduct (seerah) of the Infallibles, and general jurisprudential maxims to articulate its perspective.

Furthermore, the book addresses a series of fundamental questions in this field, such as whether gentleness and tolerance in education should be conceptualized as a foundational “principle” or a practical “method,” what the specific criteria for identifying it are, and under what conditions it is legally categorized as a “concession” (rukhsah) or a “strict injunction” (azimah).

The architecture of the work is organized into six sections, encompassing topics such as conceptual frameworks and generalities, an examination of the jurisprudential nature of gentleness and tolerance, its position across various educational domains, its role in correction and deterrence from transgression, and finally, a conclusion that presents the jurisprudential achievements of the study.

This work can be recognized as a scholarly effort toward the development of educational jurisprudence and the elucidation of the ethical-jurisprudential functions of educational concepts within the Islamic educational system. This study contributes to understanding gentleness and tolerance in education.
