The book The Political System and the State in the Holy Quran, authored in Persian by Najaf Lakzaee, has been published by the Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy in 327 pages. This work examines the foundations of the Quranic political system and the structure of the state within Islamic thought.
According to the provided overview, the Holy Quran, as a comprehensive guide for life, presents a theory predicated on a “monotheistic wilayah-based order and system” for the organization of human existence. In this work, the author elucidates the components pertaining to the political system and the state within the framework of this theory, striving to clarify its epistemological dimensions.
Within this framework, it is argued that the regulation of human life in a just manner is unattainable without the realization of security, order, and the institutional structure of the state. From this perspective, the state is posited as a necessary prerequisite for establishing both social and political order.
Furthermore, through an analysis of the verses of the Holy Quran, the book categorizes various models of governance, asserting that eight distinct theories regarding the state can be extracted from these verses. According to this analysis, only one of these models possesses religious and divine desirability, whereas the remaining seven are classified as undesirable forms of the state.
This work can be regarded as an endeavor to systematize Quranic discourse within the realm of political thought, providing a theoretical framework for understanding the state in the light of revelatory teachings and the Quranic political system.
